Physician Meetings & Events (PME)

34. Were the Meetings & Events "promotional" as well as "educational" meetings?
Yes, they were both types of meetings.

35. Are PME only those organized by individual companies, or are they also association meetings?
Both. The PME that is tracked by Scott-Levin includes those events that are sponsored by individual companies as well as associations (eg, their national symposia, the Association of the "Blank-Blank Society").

36. Are all meetings included? Have you understated the total volume?
Scott-Levin's PME audit asks physicians to report on all events to which they were invited each month, regardless of whether they attended. If the physician attended the event, additional information is collected which allows Scott-Levin to categorize the event into each of the different "types." The information on the events that physicians attended is projected within the audit. The invitations that were not attended are not included in the projections, as there is no way to determine if the event actually took place.
